TWO DAYS INTERDEPARTMENTAL WORKSHOP
The Department of Physics of A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi in collaboration with Vienstereoptic, Thoothukudi organized a two-day workshop on “System Doctor: Hardware Repair, Maintenance and Networking” on 25th and 26th September 2025 at Dr. A. L. Mudhaliar Hall. The workshop aimed to provide students with practical knowledge in computer hardware servicing, system maintenance, and networking. The primary objectives of the workshop were to enhance participants' technical skills by offering insights into diagnosing and repairing hardware issues, while also emphasizing the importance of regular system maintenance to prolong the life of devices and improve performance. Additionally, the hands-on sessions will allow participants to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, ensuring they gain practical experience in these critical areas. Moreover, the workshop seeks to empower participants by giving them the tools to troubleshoot, maintain, and manage computer systems and networks, which are essential skills in today’s technology-driven world.
The program began by seeking the blessing of Lord Almighty with a Prayer Song followed by Tamil Thai Vaazhthu. The Program commenced with a warm welcome address by the Convenor Dr. N. Rathna, Head and Assistant Professor of Physics. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr. Manivannan, CEO of Vienstereoptic, Thoothukudi, who delivered the inaugural address highlighting the importance of technical skills in today’s digital era. Mr. Selwyn and CTO Robins be the guest of honour. After the inaugural session the students were grouped into 4 sections and the technical session started. Over the two days, participants were given hands-on training in hardware repair, maintenance, and networking. The interactive sessions enabled students to gain valuable technical exposure and practical experience. A total of 118 students participated and benefitted from the workshop. The training enhanced their technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and confidence in handling computer systems. Upon completing the workshop, participants will have developed a systematic approach to diagnosing and fixing hardware problems, giving them the confidence to repair computers and other electronic devices. They will be proficient in system maintenance tasks, including cleaning, upgrading components, and optimizing system performance. The Valedictory function of the workshop was started at 2.30 P.M in Dr. A. L. Mudaliar Hall, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi on 26.09.2025 The Valedictory address was given by Dr. N. Rathna, Assistant Professor and Head of the Physics department. At the end of the sessions, a feedback session was conducted, during which the participants shared their positive experiences and appreciated the practical exposure they received. This was followed by a certificate distribution ceremony, where all the participants were awarded certificates for their successful completion of the workshop by Dr. Monika Ramraj, Principal in charge of the college. By the end of the workshop, participants will not only gain useful technical knowledge but will also feel empowered to tackle computer hardware and networking challenges independently, making them more competitive in the job market. The workshop was convened by Dr. N. Rathna with the support of department faculty members whose tireless efforts, meticulous planning, and hard work ensured the smooth conduct of the program. The program ends with the National Anthem.
