NATIONAL NANOTECHNOLOGY DAY

In commemoration of National Nanotechnology Day, the Department of Physics organized a Poster Making Competition on the topic “Nanotechnology for a Better Tomorrow” on 17th September 2025 at 1.30 P.M. The program aimed to highlight the applications of nanotechnology in fields such as medicine, electronics, energy, environment, and sustainable development. Dr. T. Sakthika, Assistant Professor of Zoology, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi acted as a Judge. The objective of the program is to create awareness among students and the public about nanoscience and nanotechnology and to highlight applications of nanotechnology in healthcare, energy, environment, electronics, and sustainable development. 22 enthusiastic students participated and presented colourful, innovative posters showcasing the applications and future scope of nanotechnology. Dr. N. Rathna, Head of the department presented a memento to the chief guest and delivered the introductory speech. After that the Chief Guest delivered her presidential address and announced the name of the winners. M. Mabel Princiya of II B.Sc Computer Science won the First Prize, while M. Divya of III B.Sc Chemistry and A. Rofiya Lopez of III B.Sc Zoology shared the Second Prize. The competition provided a platform for students to combine science with creativity, making complex concepts easy to understand through visual representation. The event encouraged scientific awareness and creativity among students and concluded successfully. All participants were encouraged for their efforts and the prizes were distributed for the winners. The event not only enhanced awareness but also encouraged critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills among the participants. Overall, the celebration of National Nanotechnology Day was a great success. It helped students understand the significance of nanotechnology for a better tomorrow and inspired them to contribute towards scientific innovations that support sustainable growth.
