COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Department of Physics organized a community service programme at Paul’s Matriculation School, Polepettai, Thoothukudi, on 3rd September 2025. The event was actively carried out with the participation of II and III B.Sc. Physics students. The main objective of the programme was to create awareness about energy conservation and promote sustainable practices among school children.
During the programme, the students conducted interactive sessions to explain the importance of saving energy and using resources wisely. Posters and visual aids highlighting renewable energy and eco-friendly practices were also displayed. The sessions encouraged active participation, and the school students shared their own ideas on how to save energy in their homes and school environment. The students also organized a Physics Quiz to engage and motivate the school children. The quiz included simple and interesting questions related to science, energy, and sustainability, which encouraged the participants to think critically and apply their classroom knowledge. The enthusiastic participation of the students made the session lively and competitive, while also helping them to learn new concepts in an enjoyable way. The quiz not only motivated the school students but also inspired them to develop a keen interest in Physics and sustainable living. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz competition
The programme had a positive impact, as it helped the young learners understand the importance of adopting sustainable habits. It also created a sense of social responsibility among the B.Sc. Physics students, who gained valuable experience by engaging with the community. Overall, the initiative successfully spread the message of sustainability and energy conservation, strengthening the bond between the Department of Physics and the local community.Dr.N. Rathna, Head & Assistant Professor of Physics has made the arrangements for this program
