EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMME

The Department of Physics organized an educational outreach programme for the Class 12 students of Prasanna Matriculation School on 06.01.2026. The main objective of the program is to create awareness about the scope and importance of Physics and motivating students to pursue higher studies and careers in the field. The program aimed to help students understand how Physics plays a vital role in science, technology, and everyday life. The program began with a motivational talk given by Dr. N. Rathna, Assistant Professor of Physics of the college. She focusing on reducing students’ fear of Physics and encouraging them to develop a positive attitude toward the subject. The importance of conceptual understanding, logical thinking, and curiosity in learning Physics was emphasized. Students were motivated by sharing examples of scientists and professionals who have built successful careers through Physics. The speaker highlighted how perseverance, interest, and consistent effort can help students excel in the subject. This was followed by a PowerPoint presentation on the scope of Physics, which highlighted various branches such as classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, nuclear physics, electronics, medical physics, astrophysics, and renewable energy. The presentation also discussed the career opportunities available after studying Physics, including research, engineering, space science, defense services, teaching, data science, and other interdisciplinary fields. 38 students from the class of XII Science Stream were actively participated in this program. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating by asking questions related to higher education options, competitive examinations, and career pathways in Physics. Their responses reflected a growing interest and improved understanding of the subject. The program effectively addressed common misconceptions and helped students recognize that Physics offers diverse and rewarding career opportunities. Dr. N. Rathna, Head of the Department convened the program with the support of department members and students.
