NATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION DAY

In commemoration of National Energy Conservation Day, the Department of Physics in association with Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL)organized Special Lecture and Interdepartmental Competitions on the theme “Energy Conservation for a Sustainable and Net Zero Future” on 18th December 2025 at 10.00 A.M. Mrs. Remona, Assistant Engineer, Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL)Thoothukudi acted as a Resource Person. The objective of the program is to create awareness among the students about the importance of energy conservation and efficient use of energy resources. Also to encourage the students to adopt energy saving practices and reduce energy wastage.108 enthusiastic students participated in this program. Dr. N. Rathna, Program Coordinator and Head of the department welcome the gathering and delivered the introductory speech. After that the Chief Guest Mrs. Remona delivered her presidential address. In her talk she discussed the topics like Energy Conservation techniques, Efficiency Measures, Solar Energy benefits and Government Solar Scheme. The awareness mime is performed by the department students related to the main theme. On that day Rangoli and Quiz competitions were conducted on the theme Save Energy Secure Future and Energy Revolution Think Tank respectively. It provided a platform for students to combine science with creativity by making through visual representation. All participants were encouraged for their efforts and the prizes were distributed for the winners. The event not only enhanced awareness but also gave the idea of how to promote sustainable development by lowering energy costs and minimizing environmental impact among the participants. Finally, Mrs.P. Saraswathi, Assistant Professor of Physics proposed the Vote of Thanks followed by our National Anthem. Overall, the celebration of National Energy Conservation Day was a great success.
