A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Department of Physics

The department started functioning in the year 2003. We offer value added courses namely,"Basic Instruments in Physics","Domestic Appliances" to enhance the technical skills of the student. Many guest lectures and workshops are organised for the benefits of student community. Many of our alumnae are placed in banks, colleges, schools and also in IT field. There are 15 university rank holders in the department from the year of establishment.

Department of Physics (UA) CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM Strategic Communication for the Modern Mind REPORT Department of Physics organized Capacity Building Program on the topic “Strategic Communication for the Modern Mind” on 10.09.2025 at 10.30 A.M. of the academic year 2025-2026. The Venue of the program was Dr. Adiseshiah Hall of the college campus. Ms. R. Rohini M.A., M.Sc., M.Phil., Counselling Psychologist, Counsellor and Assistant Professor of Psychology, St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi was acted as the resource person of the program. The Main Objective of the program is to enhance participants communication skills by introducing strategic approaches tailored to modern-day challenges, with a focus on clarity, persuasion, digital fluency and emotional intelligence. TWO DAYS INTERDEPARTMENTAL WORKSHOP

The Department of Physics of A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi in collaboration with Vienstereoptic, Thoothukudi organized a two-day workshop on “System Doctor: Hardware Repair, Maintenance and Networking” on 25th and 26th September 2025 at Dr. A. L. Mudhaliar Hall. The workshop aimed to provide students with practical knowledge in computer hardware servicing, system maintenance, and networking. The primary objectives of the workshop were to enhance participants' technical skills by offering insights into diagnosing and repairing hardware issues, while also emphasizing the importance of regular system maintenance to prolong the life of devices and improve performance.
