INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY

In commemoration of “INTERNATIONAL WOMENS’ DAY” Department of Physics has organized a special lecture and workshop on the topic “A Status of Women in Astronomy: A need for advancing inclusivity & equal opportunities”. Dr.V. Muthusamy, State Executive member & Coordinator, Tamil Nadu Astronomy & Science Society (TASS), Tirunelveli and Mr. D. Swami doss, Coordinator Tamil Nadu Astronomy & Science Society (TASS), Tirunelveli was invited as the chief guest for the Program.

Youth Awakening Day - 13.10.2023

In view of the celebration of the birthday of Bharat Ratna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam as Youth Awakening Day, Department of Physics organized the Interdepartmental Essay and Elocution Competition on the topic “Space Tourism: Bridging the gap between Science Fiction and Reality” and “The Future of Space Exploration: Challenges and Opportunities” respectively. The Venue of the program was A.P.C.V. Mahalaxmiammal Memorial Block of our college premises at the time of 12.00 P.M. Dr. M. Pushpagavalli, Assistant Professor of Tamil, A.P.C Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi was invited as the Judge of the Essay competition and Ms. M. Maheswari, Assistant Professor of Tamil, A.P.C Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi was acted as the Judge of the Elocution competition. 25 students from various departments were actively participated in this competition.

INTERDEPARTMENTAL SKETCHES COMPETITION - 14.09.2023.

Department of Physics organized the Interdepartmental Sketches Competition on the theme “Self – reliant India’s Chandrayaan” on 14.09.2023 in view of Chandrayaan Utsav.Dr. C. Stella Packiam, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, A.P.C Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi was invited as the Judge for the program. 31 students from various departments were actively participated in this competition. The winners of the competition are R. Siva santhiya of III B.Sc., Mathematics and R. Gayathri of II B.Sc., Computer Science won the I & II prize.

Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial Day - 27.07.2023

In Commemoration of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial Day a Motivational talk was arranged for Physics and Chemistry (I- year) department students on 27.07.2023 which was organized by Department of Physics. Around ninenty-five students took part in the Program. Dr. T. Buvaneswari, Assistant Professor of Tamil, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi motivates the students with the life history of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam along with his achievements. The topic of the program was “Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam – Vision and Mission”. In addition to the motivational talk the video of Chandrayan- 3 launching and the aim of the Spacecraft was explained to the students by Mrs. R. Suya Padhra Haridha, Head & Assistant Professor of Physics. The students actively participated in the Program.
